About
This 8-hour day equips crisis negotiators, CIT officers, school resource officers and mental health professionals with a behavioral composite of the “Rampage School Shooter” (AKA Classroom Avenger). Beginning with a historical review of U.S. school shootings, students will identify common operational and behavioral patterns and explore psychological, sociological and mental health factors that drive these incidents.
Drawing on Dr. Peter Langman’s typology, the course provides actionable communication strategies and de-escalation techniques tailored to pre-incident indicators and subject motivations.
THIS IS NOT AN ACTIVE RESPONSE COURSE, rather is focuses on threat mitigation and informed decision making. Participants will conclude with a practical exercise to apply their knowledge and test critical skills in engaging subjects, and coordinating a timely, effective strategy.
